The Angel Pier
release a new single, ÒAlign The SeasÓ on the Irish Independent label Delphi on 24 July. The 4-piece are 75%
Irish, 25% Canadian and, via their previous releases, have gained a reputation
for captivating live shows and ensnaring pop melodies.
The band will be playing a number of shows around Ireland to co-incide
with the release – including The Oxegen Festival (Sat 11 July) and
Castlepalooza (Saturday 1 August).

Ash are about to
embark on one of their most ambitious projects to date. Having ensconced
themselves in their own Atomic Heart Studios in New York for the last year,
they will be releasing a 26-song ÒA-Z SeriesÓ of singles from September every
fortnight for a year! The series will be available through shops and from the

To kick things off the band have released a Mark Hamilton-composed corker of a
song, ÒReturn Of White RabbitÓ.
It is available as a free download right now on the bandÕs website and a
limited edition of 1,000 7Ó are available through mail order and selected

Animal Collective released a new
single, ÒSummertime ClothesÓ, on
26 June with a spread of mixes as additional tracks on various versions
(Dam-Funk remix, Leon Day AKA L.D. remix, ZombyÕs Analog Lego mix). It is, of
course, taken from their current Merriweather Post Pavilion album on Domino.

Bell X1 played a fantastic headline
show in The Marquee Cork over the weekend. Their next live outing will be the
Special Guest slot with U2 on 27 July in Croke Park. The band have also just
been announced for a performance at this yearÕs Electric Picnic over the first
weekend of September.
In the meantime the band continue their march around the world in support of
their platinum selling album, Blue Lights On The Runway, which went straight to Number 1
in the Irish Album Charts. They will be playing at various festivals over the
summer (including Hop Farm, Benecassim and Electric Picnic). The current single
from the album is ÒThe Ribs of a Broken UmbrellaÓ.

The debut novel by Keith Cullen (maverick founder and boss of Setanta Records - The

Director have just announced new
shows for the Summer including a headline slot on the IMRO stage at the Oxegen
Festival (Sat 11 July). They will also play in Dungarvan (3 July), and Kilkenny
(10 July) before rolling into a show at Leopardstown, Dublin (16 July) and a
slot at the Indiependence Festival in Mitchelstown (2 August).
The bandÕs new album, IÕll Wait For Sound, went straight into the Irish
album charts at No 11 in May. It was preceded by the single ÒSing It

Hard Working Class Heroes will

(4-6 September) that sees him playing on consecutive days at the Harvest Blues
Festival in Monaghan before catching a Sunday slot at the Electric Picnic.

Josh Ritter returns to Ireland this
week to play The Marquee, Cork (Friday 4 July) complete with a 24-piece
orchestra with Lisa Hannigan as Special Guest.

YorkÕs Central Park (in the company of the NY Pops Orchestra) Josh has also announced full details of a special series
of deluxe 2 CD back catalogue releases in Ireland.
Each album has expanded artwork, lyrics and comes with a special bonus disc of
each album recorded acoustically exclusively for these releases. There will
also be exclusive additional tracks and videos all presented in an exclusive
(to Ireland) hardback booklet. Golden Age Of Radio comes with sleeve notes by
none other than Cameron Crowe.

Snow Patrol return to Ireland to
headline the first day of the Oxegen Festival (Friday 10 July) at Punchestown
Racecourse.
The band released a new single, ÒThe Planets Bend UsÓ on Fiction/Polydor earlier this month (you can

version of the song on their current million-selling album, A
Hundred Million Suns.

The Swell Season
(featuring The Frames) have
announced initial details of a new album along with the Irish leg of a
worldwide tour starting in August. Tickets went on sale on Tuesday 2 June
priced at 30 euro (plus booking fees). The Irish shows will take in Derry,
Wexford, Cork, Ennis and Dublin.
The album, whose title is still to be confirmed, will feature 11 brand
new tracks and is planned for release on 25 September. Meanwhile Academy Award
winners Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova will bring their unique live show back
to Ireland to kick off a world tour in celebration of the second album to be
made under the monicker The Swell Season.
Following the Irish shows The Swell Season tour will roll into the US in
September / October and Europe in November / December. There are already plans
to tour Asia in Spring 2010.
